Anna as brought back some long lost memories for me this week, using cockney rhyming slang as prompts. I was born in the East end of London within the sound of Bow Bells so I am a true cockney. However, I have lost my cockney accent, well all except for one little foible which is that sometimes I have been known to “drop my H’s” when I speak especially if I have had a glass or 2 of wine. Much to the amusement of all who are in earshot!

"all right me old china"
China Plate – mate This mate is always willing to help me out.
Here she is doing her best to help me with the ‘apple and pears’ quote.
Sorry Kay, I forgot I had already got a shot for that!!!
Put it down to a ‘Senior moment’.

"Lets have a good cup o rosie lee"
Rosie Lee translated is a Cup of Tea, very British! We do not drink out of dainty teacups very often these days. This set are the only survivors from my aunt's wedding present over 70 years ago.
They mean so much to me, therefore are used rarely.

For our 365er's across the pond.
Cockney rhyming slang is not a language but a collection of phrases used by Cockneys and other Londoners. Rhyming Slang phrases are derived from taking an expression which rhymes with a word and then using that expression instead of the word.
"A penny for your thoughts"
This idiom is used as a way of asking someone what they are thinking about. Here is just one of my thoughts for today.

Another week of fantastic photos, well done! I wouldn't fancy cleaning all those windows either. The photo of the stairs if great, makes me feel dizzy!

Shirley you have some fantastic photos here, I especially love the spiral staircase one. makes you giddy looking at it as you feel just as if you are standing at the top looking down. (just seen what Kath has put and no I didn't copy lol)
I love the quotes you find to go with them especially the 'true friend' and the 'power of thought' ones.

Wonderful photos as always. Wish I'd known you were at Cliveden cos it's only about 15 minutes drive from me. We've spent many lazy afternoons in the gardens there :)
