May 26th

As from today I will not be updating my blog for a while.
Regular visitors will know that I have had big problems
with pain in my neck and arm.
Tomorrow I am going in to hospital for surgery,
hopefully this will remedy the situation and give me back my life.
I am sure I will be well looked after by the neurosurgeon
and nursing staff.
When I return home I will have family and friends
who will carry on that task for a few weeks.
I know that Sue and Julie have had practice at using their nursing
skills before but that was quite a few years ago!!!

“If you were all alone in the universe with no one to talk to,
no one with which to share the beauty of the stars,
to laugh with, to touch,
what would be your purpose in life?
It is other life, it is love, which gives your life meaning.
This is harmony.
We must discover the joy of each other,
the joy of challenge, the joy of growth.”

friends and family close to me is very important.

“True Friend"
~Author: CindyLee
When you are hurting.
And all it seems to do is rain.
When your heart aches.
I won’t leave you in pain.
When your world is clouded over.
And you don’t know who to turn to.
When all you do is cry .
Come let me help you.

When all you troubles and fears
Seem to bring you tears.
And all you need is a shoulder
My shoulder I will lend and dry your tears
When your world is out of control.
And your life no longer a straight line.
And the strength you can not bare.
I will give you hope that it will be fine.
When you just want to share
Your hopes and dreams to be.
You can trust me.
For I am here for you cause
I am your true friend.

Photography prompt 4

Bokeh (from the Japanese boke, "blur") is a photographic term referring to the appearance of out-of-focus areas in an image produced by a camera lens.[1] Different lens bokeh produces different aesthetic qualities in out-of-focus backgrounds, which are often used to reduce distractions and emphasize the primary subject.
This week try focusing on achieving good "Bokeh", also known as "circles of confusion"

“Open your heart - open it wide; someone is standing outside.”
- Mary Engelbreit; artist, entrepreneur
My best friend in the whole world came home
from his travels yesterday.
No way was I going to leave him standing outside!
********
Friendship is a priceless gift,
That cannot be bought or sold.
But its value is far greater than,
A mountain made of gold.

For gold is cold and lifeless,
It cannot see nor hear.
And in times of trouble,
It's powerless to cheer.

It has no ears to listen,
Nor a heart to understand.
It cannot give you comfort,
Or lend a helping hand.

So when you ask God for a gift
Be happy if he sends
Not diamonds pearls or riches
But the love of a true GREAT FRIEND!!

~ John Quincy
********
I am putting my choice of quote under the photo today simply because this lady really did act as an inspiration to me during the early part of my life.
Rhoda was a leader, she was a very petite and unassuming lady, who if you saw in the street looked like any other little old lady and at the time I met her and she was loosing her sight.
I first met her when I moved to Cornwall with Colin and our daughter Sue who was 1 year old at the time. Rhoda was our new neighbour and we soon became good friends and remained so until she died. Her whole ethos on life was amazing, she was always there to talk to and give advice and athough sadly she never married, her fiancé was killed in the 2nd world War, she always knew what to say and when to say it.
I will always remember the day I told her I was pregnant with Julie, she amazed me by saying she already knew, then told me that she had noticed a change in the skin pigmentation around my nose and that told her I was pregnant, to this day I have never worked that one out!
Rhoda trained as a nurse and during the 2nd World War she served in France, Egypt, Palestine, Syria and West Africa as a nursing officer and afterwards joined the Colonial Service and was posted to Malaya.
Whilst in Malaya her job was to help pioneer the training of local girls into the nursing profession, in which work she received cooperation from the medical and nursing staff, many of whom had spent more than 4 years in Japanese P.O.W. camps. On leaving Malaya Rhoda had a scholarship given in her name by the Trained Nurses Association of Malaya, and a Hall in the School of nursing named in her honour. Also in 1957 she received the M.B.E. for ‘Distinguished Service in the Colonies’.
Not only was she a great friend to me but an incredible fund raiser for worthy causes always ready to help and give talks at short notice. Her selfless life will always be and remain an inspiration to me.
I can not take credit for todays photo, it was taken by Colin for Rhoda when she first released a book all about her amazing life. Sadly this is now out of print but I do have a much read and treasured copy.
